What’s RamblingRat?

Welcome to the home of the Rambling Rat Overland Project.
The RamblingRat Overland Project benefiting streetKids International, are innovative expeditions focussing on marginalized youth from around the world.
Created in 2008 by Tim Dennis of Scotland Uk after buying a Tilley hat, the  label inside described Tilley’s support for streetKids International, this was aligned with Tim’s aspirations to help youth worldwide.
He sold up his home for a customized Toyota Landcruiser with roof top tent and partnered with streetKids international to go around the world, the unique partnership was born.
Why Rambling Rat?
Set up in The year of the Rat we challenge perceptions of streetyouth by using a cartoon rat who happens to be called “Dylan”
What we do
Endurance:
Visiting remote parts of the world using innovative technology, to challenge ourselves so that we may share real life experiences to inspire others.
Empowerment:
We speak at schools and organizations and set up locally relevant youth projects to encourage individualism and global freedom.
Awareness:
We promote awareness for the work of streetKids International, a united nations best practice leader in helping street youth from around the world create a more positive life for themselves.
Global Achievement so far
To date the project has completed a full circumnavigation of the world travelling through 12 countries in 12 months taking 6 ships
to transverse 3 continents and 3 oceans.
The RamblingRat Overland Project is launching two exciting expeditions for 2009 and 2009, RamblingRat America and RamblingRat Africa
RamblingRat America will connect the most northernly point of the Alaskan Arctic with the tip of South America starting in November 2009 this exciting expedition known as the Trans America will visit streetKids International projects in South America.
RamblingRat Africa will be our second vehicle traveling from London to Cape town South Africa in March 2010, this classic expedition is set to visit streetKids Internationals projects in several countries and set up youth projects and work with local media to raise awareness.
Both expeditions will be working with our sponsors to create world wide media awareness for streetKids and local youth projects by taking part in newspaper, TV, and Radio interviews.
If you are interested in getting involved in the RamblingRat Overland Project by either traveling with us or running your own expedition under our brand concept or becoming a volunteer at home,  we would love to hear from you. Please contact Tim by e-mail to discuss what you could bring to the projects.
