RamblingRat Adventures in Mexico

Theft situation in Baja Mexico

Hello its me its Tim!
What an interesting first part of the year, firstly i’d like to thank everyone that has helped me through my little situation where stuff was stolen from the vehicle in Mexico, Tilley and Street Kids International were brilliant in getting me back on track swiftly, after all this is all part of the adventure.
Thank you guys.

RamblingRat Adventure Bus concept is born

Life is easier when shared

I have had such a wonderful journey over the past few months making my way down from New York into Mexico meeting so many interesting characters along the road, some of these people are backpackers, musicians the homeless at soup kitchens and other youth related events where I am promoting Street Kids International.
One of the things that I’m asked often is “Can i travel with you”!! and the answer is yes, I love to have people join me as I travel, so far since 2008 I have had 8 people travel with me some for a few hours hitching and some for up to 3 months.
This got me thinking???

Adventure Bus idea!

Whilst having too much time on my hands waiting for a new passport in Baja Mexico the mix of meeting interesting new people that genuinely want to help with what RamblingRat are doing I had the idea of buying RRA3 our third vehicle, this vehicle will be a heavy duty coach a PT36Wanderlodge specification built byBluebird buses in the 70′s and 80′s are very strong all steel galvanised body construction and chassis with double rear axle for extra stability and carries 300 gals of fuel and 150 gals of water including ultra reliable perkins 12.5 kva generator, No fancy electronic engine management too making it vehicle perfect for touring into Central and South America.
These are the only American coaches certified to roll, the roofs are very strong which means we can store spare tires and canoes on the roof .

Become a RamblingRat

You are welcome to come along for the ride.
Experience the very word Random its how I have managed to achieve what I have so far, living life as life wants you to live it.
I dare you! to try it freedom is very addictive indeed.
We are not setting out to provide anyone with a travel service so you won’t be at a specific place on a particular day, think of it as becoming RamblingRat Crew we will collectively decide the days itinerary based on location and logistics giving you the chance to visit Youth Projects set up by Street Kids International and maybe finding your individual talent that you never knew you had.
This is a great way for us to promote and raise money to help Street Kids International continue their work, everyone that travels on the bus will be asked to make a voluntary contribution to RamblingRat Adventure Bus to keep our wheels rolling which includes a donation to Street Kids International so you are helping whilst having fun.
I promise it will be a whole load of fun and as we are a non profit collective it will be lighter on your pocket that regular travel.
That’s the plan folks
We are all in the planning stages.
If you like the idea or just want to say hi then email me tim@ramblingrat.com

Lots of fuss travelling in a Bus??

Well yes it will change the dynamics of how we operate the Americas Adventure and one thing that i have learned from my journey is that everything is so much easier when shared.
The shere size of the bus will mean that we get noticed, just imagine RamblingRat’s latest art work covering the entire bus as a modern vehicle wrap, of coarse we will invite our current sponsors Tilley clothingand Cooper Tires to continue to support us and encourage others too, without your help we would not be able to promote social change.

Being Social

Many of you may have noticed that i have not updated the web site for sometime and that is because of a couple of reasons one because my laptop went walkies in Mexico and the other because I now use the dreaded “F” word yes Facebook I find that it is far simpler to communicate to more people and share pictures from our Adventure on their and Silvie and Neil who are RamblingRat Africa set this up and did a fine job of it too, i know that many of you don’t use this and we are looking into ways to update the RamblingRat web site to take info from our social network sites including pictures and video.
You are invited to join our Facebook Pages to get the latest, as this is where all the daily tittle tattle goes on.

Much love to you all

Tim Dennis
