Ukraine

Got into Ukraine at 6.20 p.m on friday night, their was a huge line of trucks on the single carriage way into a smaller border heading towards l’viv. It took me about an hour and a half to get into Ukraine, everyone was firm but friendly , they were very interested in the vehicle and customs didn’t know where to look first as their is so many nooks and crannies on the truck thanks to trek overland utilizing all the space. I got parked up at about 9 p.m in a great wooded secluded spot, just the mosi’s were a problem but i’ve got spray and the tent has insect nets which are very affective.

Today Saturday I’m making my way east east east it’s fantastic, what an interesting country, I’m actually enjoying this as i get abit bored I’m Europe now its all the same and too formal, this place is crazy, the roads are terrible but fun to drive competing for space in an enjoyable progressive way horse’s, cows, dogs, and chickens run loose on the road as their are no fences old men and women very tanned and some with a stoop stand and stare as i go past, i wave and smile, it is so much different out of the EU and i used to think for the worse, but now I’m older i think that interference from the west is a bad thing and its so lovely not to see corporate advertising like Mac Donald’s and Tesco. Their are markets in different towns for different items like smoked fish then another town will be stone for your drive, i love all the old Russian cars and Trucks Ural’s and Zil’s. I have motored along well today between 50 and 60 mph and have covered many miles maybe half of the country, i was given 5 days to transit Ukraine and i don’t want to mess about too much as if something does go wrong i will need those days to get the problem sorted. I’m sleeping in rural locations which suits me better I’m really chuffed that i’ve not paid for any accommodation so far all the way, this will change at points in Russia as i will have to register my visa at some hotels on route to keep the immigration informed as to where i am. Well I’m parked up and going to sleep in another very rural place fields the size of british towns and combine harvesters that work in lines of 7 or 8 this is farming on a huge scale, I’m now aware of how small britain is their is so much more than our little country. Off to bed now as I’m really tired out.
